Dermal Fillers

As we age, our skin loses its elasticity and volume, which contributes to wrinkles formation. Dermal Fillers are clinically proven to be safe and effective for restoring your skin’s youthful appearance. Dermal fillers are the main solution we use to smooth wrinkles and fine lines, reinvigorate skin and creating a youthful appearance. They are injected directly beneath a line or fold to fill the depression it makes in the skin.

Dermal Fillers are composed of a substance called Hyaluronic Acid. It is a substance made naturally within our bodies that provides our skin with hydration, elasticity, and plumped look. Our skin loses its elasticity and volume as part of the ageing process or rapid weight loss. As a result, our skin becomes thinner and dehydrated, which further contributes to wrinkles formation. Dermal Fillers are used to restore volume and fullness, thus giving a more youthful appearance.

We use fillers containing synthetic hyaluronic acid gel, which over time is broken down and absorbed by your body’s natural enzymes, just like your natural hyaluronic acid.

Fillers can be used for all sorts of lines and wrinkles, from deep nose-to-mouth lines to superficial lipstick bleed lines around the mouth. It can also be used for enhancement procedures such as lips, cheeks, nose and chin. The effect is immediately evident, though it might take 10-14 for minor swelling and bruising days to reduce and for filler to settle. Longevity of treatment varies from patient to patient, it depends on their lifestyle, the areas injected, and the type of product uses.

Dermal Fillers FAQ

Dermal Fillers are gel-like substances made out of hyaluronic acid (a substance that occurs naturally in healthy skin), and they are used to plump out or fill in the lines and wrinkles caused by the ageing process.

Depending on the consistency, dermal fillers can be injected into various parts of the face, very successfully yet subtly enhancing many facial features. The final result should be a refreshed yet natural-looking face. Dermal fillers are also used to enhance a client’s facial features and provide additional support to an ageing face.

In our clinic we use top quality Derma Fillers brand Juvéderm® Ultra which contains local anaesthetic; this makes the treatment more comfortable. The treatment involves injecting hyaluronic acid directly into the skin to fill the lip, wrinkle or fold. Once in the skin, it creates volume, resulting in a healthy and natural appearance.

Anti-wrinkle treatment aims to relax mussles therefore it is is most effective for superficial lines and wrinkles, while fillers plump the skin and can smooth out even the deepest forehead furrows and marionette lines. Depending on your goals, a combination of toxins and fillers can make the greatest impact on your appearance.

The combination treatment of toxin followed by fillers can last twice as long as fillers alone, and the two injectables complement each other by targeting multiple areas of the face simultaneously.

Dermal fillers can last anywhere between 6 to 18 months. The duration is partly depending on the type of dermal filler used and the area it is used in. Additional factors such as brand, lifestyle choices, and general health may also impact duration.

The combination treatment of toxin followed by fillers can last twice as long as fillers alone, and the two injectables complement each other by targeting multiple areas of the face simultaneously.

Most patients will see immediate results following their treatment. However swelling and very rarely bruising can take anywhere from 7-10 days to settle, it is mainly after this that you can see the “final result”.

Dermal fillers are considered to be one of the safest anti-ageing treatments around and this is reflected in their increasing popularity over the past few years.

There is some mild discomfort but we use a variety of techniques to make it as close to pain-free as possible. The type of Dermal Filler we use at DJ Clinic contains lidnocaine, a local anstetic, to minimalises your discomfort. Topical numbing cream can be applied if you are concerned.

All medical treatments, including dermal fillers injections, have the potential to cause complications. While the majority of adverse reactions are insignificant, such as bruising, swelling, redness, itching, rash which you may experience on the day of your treatment. You will be provided with a post-treatment information leaflet on how to manage these side effects. Less common side effects include raised lumps under the skin, infection, movement of filler material from the site of injection, allergic reaction, and bleeding, and rare localised tissue damage (tissue necrosis), blindness, and stoke.
